Located in the Glenard Estate designed by Walter Burley Griffin, 4 Glenard Drive is of architectural significance as an examplar of the organic design movement espoused by Griffin and expressed in his houses. The house has further significance as an award-winning design by Charles Duncan, who was heavily influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright, and who became a leading exponent of the 'Organic' style in Melbourne. The house at 4 Glenard Drive won Duncan the 1965 Victorian Architecture Medal for single house design (Criterion D). The house has a high degree of integrity and is aesthetically significant as a visually pleasing example of 'Organic' design.
