| C Listed - Local Significance STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE The Miller Homes were designed by Laird and Buchan for the philanthropist Alexander Miller for "ladies in straitened circumstances" and built in 1936(?). They have architectural significance as a representative example of the architects work, and as a particularly intact example of a relatively unusual building type at this date. They have historic significance for their association with charitable movements in community life, an association with important local retail businessman, Miller and in demonstrating the effect of philanthropic action.
