It is of historical significance as a comparatively early surviving former pilot's house in Queenscliff. It is also significant for its association with James Liddell a pilot appointed in 1853 who had earlier connections with pioneers of Port Phillip including the Hentys and John Pascoe Fawkner. Architecturally, the house is of interest for its evolved nature, with 1860s and 1880s components; while the original tower component, although altered, also distinguishes the dwelling. |
