STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
This site is one of the few buildings recorded during this project as an Historical archaeological site on the Bellarine Peninsula, that appears to have been constructed of hand-made or wire-cut bricks. The house is dilapidated but with evidence of good paint and architrave detail on the inner walls. The building has floorboards and therefore has a good potential for sub-surface cultural material. The land around the building is presumed to have had outbuildings, however it has been graded, It is likely that the site was part of a small farming community, as the only owner identified to date (Mr Percy Maude) has been noted in 1910 and in 1930's as prominent chicken farmer.
It is of State significance.
