Historically and socially, the Clyde Methodist Church (former) is significant as the earliest surviving public building in Clyde, which demonstrates the development of the new township around the railway station in the early decades of the twentieth century. As well as being a church for a long period, it was the venue for the first Clyde State School and has strong associations with the local community.
