| Map | Street view | Nearby property price | Planning History: | | Registered as Victorian heritage | The house site is of historical significance in that it relates to the speculative Separation Township which began in the mid 19th century. The house dated to at least 1891 and perhaps earlier, and it therefore covers the period when the settlement began to stall following promising beginnings. Even in the absence of sub-surface deposits, the site provides evidence of the domestic and agricultural arrangements at the site, in the form of a peppercorn tree, concrete domed well, an outhouse and a remnant orchard to the east. Any archaeological deposits that it may contain will cast additional light on day to day existence at the site. The site is considered to have archaeological potential as the known location of a house which dated to at least 1891 and perhaps earlier. The site can provide information on its history of domestic and agricultural occupation within the context of the speculative Separation Township. This site has the potential to provide new information about the lives of people in the area from the last decades of the 19th century when the township was in decline, and possibly from earlier. However, it is considered unlikely that any remains which lie within this area of potential would be found to meet the threshold of local significance. | | 08 Oct 2015 | 53 lot subdivision (25 Regent Street) | (Source: Streamlined Planning through Electronic Applications and Referra, reference no: S075161S) |
