The cottage of random coursed rubble stone from the Barrabool Hills has a slate roof and simple cusp brackets timber verandah and is representative of the early masonry traditions in the district. Hoskin was associated with the early development of Belmont and, Highton and the property was established before closer survey and settlement was undertaken in the district.
