| B listed - Regional Significance One of relatively few large Victorian residences in Geelong West significant for its associations with the Hope family and its degree of integrity. It is of regional significance. The distinctive brick residence of 234 Latrobe Terrace Geelong West was constructed in 1881-2 for Mrs. Charles Anderson, widow of Charles Anderson, a Geelong businessman. Watts and Jackson designed this Victorian eclectic style residence with unusual timber verandah and iron balustrades in a characteristic villa mode of the 1880s in Geelong. The residence is one of a large number of notable villas in the Latrobe Terrace precinct of Geelong and a representative example of the works of prolific architects Watts and Jackson. The building was for many years the residence of Dr. T.C. Hope, a noted Geelong medical practitioner and son of Dr. Hope of 'Lynnburn', Batesford. References G.
