A substanital two-storey mansion of 1876 in the Italianate style built for Sir James Lorimer MLC, founder of Lorimer, Rome & Co. agents for White Star Line ships and later Minister for Defence. The house has had several prominent owners since Sir James including Sir Colin Fraser, managing director of BHP; Myer Emporium; Bernard Dowd and Dowd Associates. More recently the house was purchased by Sir Solomon Lew in 1986.
