The former Bank of Australasia at 19 Falls Road, Fish Creek is of local historic and aesthetic significance to South Gippsland Shire. Historically, it is one of the oldest extant commercial buildings in Fish Creek and one of two former Bank of Australasia branches in the Shire. It demonstrates the significant role played by the bank in the early development of Fish Creek as a important local commercial centre. (AHC criteria - A.4, B.2 and D.2) Aesthetically, it is a substantially intact example of Federation bank that can be compared with the former Bank of Australasia at Stony Creek.
