Possibly built in the late 19th century, it appears to be in good condition when viewed from the street. The house at 18 Victoria Street is historically and architecturally significant at a LOCAL level. It is possibly associated with residential developments in Stawell in the late 19th century, and it demonstrates original design qualities of a Victorian style. These qualities include the hipped roof form, together with the hipped bullnosed verandah that projects towards the street frontage. Other intact or appropriate qualities include the brick chimney with the project top, narrow eaves with paired timber brackets, paterae and panelling, single storey height, horizontal timber weatherboard wall cladding, galvanised corrugated iron roof cladding, symmetrical composition to the front facade with the central timber framed doorway having sidelights and highlights and the flanking timber framed double hung tripartite windows, turned timber verandah columns, and the decorative cast iron verandah valances and brackets.
