It is of historical significance for its association with the continuing development of Point Lonsdale as a genteel seaside resort in the first decades of the twentieth century, with its generous proportions emphasising the desirability of the area as a summer destination for the well-heeled. Architecturally, Burrawang is a substantial and largely externally intact 1920s single-storey, weatherboard Bungalow. While it has a number of broadly comparable local examples, and is a fairly late dwelling in the Bungalow mode, it is still noted for its apparent high degree of external intactness, asymmetrically placed gabled bay, verandah supported by paired columns on rendered pedestals, and box-frame sash windows. |
