STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
This 1892-93 residence has regional historical significance as a fine example of the innovative styles displayed in many of Geelong's Edwardian timber houses and for its associations with William Purnell and Sons, a notable Geelong firm of timber merchants, builders and architects. It is one of a number of substantial Newtown houses built as investments by this firm, "Strathcona", 112 Noble Street (1900) is another. "Warranamurra" has regional architectural significance as a most innovative complex, yet tightly planned, Edwardian design.
