| A Listed - State Significance STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE The gatehouse lodge at St. Albans Homestead Whittington was erected in 1890-91 for prominent pastoralist and horse breeder John Crozier, successor to James Wilson, the founder of St Albans Stud. Henderson and Marryat, Architect designed this picturesque Victorian eclectic style gate lodge in dichromatic brick patterns with towering chimneys, gothic revival imagery and octagonal coved tower and belfry to signal the arrival of distinguished visitors. The lodge, although later constructed that the St Albans Homestead, is, although presently derelict, an integral part of this significant racing stud and property and one of the finest gate lodges in Victoria RECOMMENDATIONS: PROTECTIVE MEASURES Geelong Regional Commission Register.
