'Mayfield' is of local historic and aesthetic significance to the City of Casey. Why is it Significant? Historically, it is significant as a representative example of a substantial farm homestead, which illustrates the improvements made by settler freeholders during the late nineteenth century. Aesthetically, this house is of regional significance for the combination of the size, date, style and wall materials plus ornamental planting, compared to other farm houses in the region from the same era which are typically of timber with little stylistic pretensions. |
