改建申請曆史:
被市政府指定為 Victorian heritage
The house at 76 Maud Street, Geelong, has significance as a relatively intact example of the timber Federation style. This house was built in 1911 for Charles Richard Fagg, timber merchant, and largely appears to be in good condition when viewed from the street.
The house at 76 Maud Street is architecturally significant at a LOCAL level. It demonstrates original design qualities of the Federation style. These qualities include the recessed steeply pitched hipped roof form, together with the gables and the broken back return verandah that project at the front and sides. Other intact or appropriate qualities include the asymmetrical composition, single storey height, horizontal weatherboard wall cladding, corrugated profile for the roof cladding, four unpainted red brick chimneys (two with terra cotta pots), modest eaves, timber verandah decoration including the paired timber columns with decorative timber fretwork and panels between, substantial fretwork arches under the gable and at the verandah corner, and the timber fretwork valances between the arches, chamfered corner with a bank of timber framed casement windows, timber framed double hung windows, timber ridge decoration and the gable infill (battening and panelling, and timber brackets).
The house at 76 Maud Street is historically significant at a LOCAL level. It is associated with residential developments in Geelong during the Federation period (c.1895-1915). Built in 1911, this house has associations with Charles Richard Fagg, timber merchant and original owner, and with other Fagg family members until 1972. A well-known family in Geelong, the Fagg family initially owned and operated timber yards and later the Faggs hardware stores.
Overall, the house at 76 Maud Street is of LOCAL significance.
