It is associated with residential developments in Stawell in the early 20th century, and it demonstrates original design qualities of an early 20th century Federation style. These qualities include the hipped and gabled roof forms, together with the verandah that projects towards the street frontage. Other intact or appropriate qualities include the single storey height, horizontal timber weatherboard wall cladding, galvanised corrugated iron roof cladding, timber verandah posts, arched timber fretwork valances, timber framed double hung windows and window awnings clad in ripple iron and supported on timber brackets.
