How is it significant? The house is historically and architecturally significant to the Shire of Nillumbik. Why is it significant? The house is historically significant because it was designed by the renowned local architect, Alistair Knox, who played a key role in the development of the 'Eltham-style' of architecture (Criteria H & A). The house is architecturally significant as an excellent example of a small, polygonal dwelling that also illustrates other advanced architectural features, of the time: floor to ceiling window walls, a single living area containing the kitchen at one end, a stone fireplace wall, a flat roof, and an integral carport (Criterion D).
