Set on a large allotment with a substantial front setback, this house has significance as a relatively externally intact example of a Late Victorian style. The design of the house suggests that it was constructed in the late 19th or early 20th century. The house at 58 Main Street is historically and architecturally significant at a LOCAL level. It is associated with residential developments in Great Western in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and it demonstrates original design qualities of a Late Victoria style. These qualities include the recessed hipped roof form that traverses the site, together with the minor hipped roof and skillion verandah that project towards the street frontage.
