The cottage known as 'Illira' at 40 Ligar Street, Stawell, has significance as a remaining example of a Victorian vernacular miner's cottage, and for its associations with the notable local artist, Will Rees. He owned and occupied the property between 1893 and 1938. The cottage appears to be in good condition when viewed the street.
