Craignair,built in 1913-14, is architecturally significant at a local level as a near complete, relatively successfully designed timber "Queen Anne" attic styled house, which is an uncommon style in Newport. It is also a prominent building in the residential streetscape and possesses a notable fence. The building is historically significant at a local level as the residence of the Murdoch family, well-known early contractors in the area, and the occupiers for some 72 years.
