These qualities include the hipped roof form, together with the hipped ogee form verandah that projects towards the street frontage. Other intact or appropriate qualities include the symmetrical composition, single storey height, galvanised corrugated iron roof cladding, horizontal timber weatherboard wall cladding, two brick chimneys with multi-corbelled tops, narrow eaves, central timber framed doorway, timber framed double hung windows, stop chamfered timber columns and the cast iron verandah valances.
The house at 19 Allen Crescent is historically significant at a LOCAL level. It is associated with residential developments in Stawell probably during the second half of the 19th century. The dwelling also has associations with Sister Davies Hospital in the 1920s to 1940s.
