| C Listed - Local Significance The former residence of EG Gurr at 139 Noble Street, Newtown was erected in 1916. FG Gurr was a distinguished local identity and Mayor of Geelong. This single storey brick residence, with complex slate roof form and modest timber decoration is a typical Newtown Hill villa of the early 20th century and an interesting example of the late Edwardian style in Geelong. The architects for this residence were the prolific local firm, Laird and Buchan. The building is a notable example of the firm's residential work in the period, 1904-1920.
