地圖位置 | 街景 | 周邊成交價 | 改建申請曆史: | | 被市政府指定為 Victorian heritage | Last updated on - June 1, 2005 Chilton, architect Charles Webb's own house, was built most probably in the mid 1850s, possibly with subsequent additions. The builder was most likely James Webb, brother and neighbour to Charles. Single storied, the stuccoed house is now asymmetrically composed, with a projecting bay window and a tower, faced with paired Tuscan pilasters. The cast iron verandah and french doors are features. Chilton is a significant early villa house, important for its date, as a rare survivor of early settlement in Brighton and as one of Webb's earliest residential works. Architecturally restrained, the Italianate design is notable for the iron verandah, characteristic of Charles Webb and for the tower, which is distinctively detailed and is presumably a very early surviving tower. Chilton has been variously altered and extended, but is reasonably intact and in good condition. Classified: 24/02/1966 |
